Want to launch your own website or app? The first step is to create hosting, the place where your files are stored and made available on the internet. This guide walks you through setting up PHP hosting on the UlozData platform.
Tip: If you have not registered a domain yet, start with the guide How to register a domain. You can also create hosting without your own domain and get a free subdomain instead.
What you will need
- A Wopro account: if you do not have one yet, sign up here
- Credits in your account: the price of hosting depends on the plan you choose
- An idea of your project: which PHP version you need and how much disk space you will use
How to create hosting
Sign in to the UlozData client zone
Go to ulozdata.cz and click “Klientská zóna” (Client zone). Sign in with your Wopro account. If you are signing in for the first time, you will be redirected through the central Wopro sign-in automatically.
Go to the Hosting section
In the left menu, click “Hosting”. You will see an overview of your existing hosting, if you have any. Click the “Nový hosting” (New hosting) button.
Choose the hosting address
You have two options: enter a subdomain name (e.g. myweb.ulozdata.cz) or connect your own domain that you registered earlier. A subdomain is ideal for testing and development.
Set the parameters
Choose the PHP version (we recommend PHP 8.2 or newer), set the amount of disk space you need and check the other parameters, such as the number of databases or mailboxes.
Connect a domain (optional)
If you want your website to run on your own domain, pick it from the list of your registered domains. The DNS records are set up automatically. You can also connect a domain later.
Confirm and create the hosting
Check the summary: the address, parameters and price. Click “Vytvořit hosting” (Create hosting). The hosting will be active within a few seconds and you can start uploading files right away.
Tip: An SSL certificate (HTTPS) is set up automatically for all hosting, so there is nothing to configure. Your data is also backed up every day, so you do not need to worry about it.
Important: Each hosting uses up credits every month. If you run out of credits, the hosting is suspended, not deleted. We recommend setting up a low-balance alert. To top up credits, follow the guide How to top up credits.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change the PHP version later?
Yes. You can switch the PHP version in the hosting settings at any time and the change takes effect immediately. We recommend testing your code for compatibility before you switch.
How do I upload files to the hosting?
Upload files through the built-in file manager in the client zone or over an FTP connection. You will find the FTP login details in the hosting detail.
Is a database included?
Yes, every hosting includes at least one MySQL database. You will find the database login details in the “Databáze” (Databases) section of the hosting detail.
Next step: If you need to connect your own domain to the hosting and set up DNS records, continue with the guide How to set up DNS records.
