How to register a domain

Registering a domain is one of the first steps towards getting your business online. This guide walks you through the whole process of registering a domain with UlozData, from searching for a name to activating it.

Tip: Before you register, make sure you have enough credits in your account. 1 credit = CZK 1. You can top up credits under “Organizace” → “Dobít kredity” (Organisation → Top up credits).

Before you start

To register a domain, you will need:

  • A Wopro account: if you do not have one yet, sign up here
  • Enough credits: the price depends on the domain extension (from €9.85 per year for .cz)
  • A domain name: ideally, decide on the name you want in advance

How to register

1

Sign in to the UlozData client zone

Go to ulozdata.cz and click “Klientská zóna” (Client zone). Sign in with your Wopro account. If you are signing in for the first time, you will be redirected through the central Wopro sign-in automatically.

2

Open the domains section

In the left menu, click “Domény” (Domains). You will see an overview of your registered domains. Click the “Koupit doménu” (Buy a domain) button.

3

Search for the domain you want

Type the domain name into the search field (e.g. mycompany.com). The system checks whether the domain is available and shows the result. If it is free, you will see a green icon and the price in credits.

4

Review the summary and confirm

Check the domain name, the price and the registration period. Tick the box to accept the terms and conditions and click “Zaregistrovat doménu” (Register domain).

5

Done!

Once the registration is complete, the domain appears in your overview. Its DNS records point to our servers automatically. To connect the domain to hosting, open the domain settings.

Important: Registering a domain cannot be undone and the credits you pay for it are not refundable. Check the domain name carefully before you confirm, because a typo cannot be corrected afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a domain cost?

The price depends on the extension. .cz domains start at 240 credits per year, .com domains at 480 credits per year. You will find the current prices right in the registration wizard.

How long does activation take?

A domain is usually active within a few minutes. DNS changes can take up to 24 hours to spread across the internet, but in most cases the domain is reachable much sooner.

Can I transfer a domain from another registrar?

Yes. In the “Domény” section you will find the “Transfer domény” (Domain transfer) option. You will need an authorisation code (EPP code) from your current registrar.

Next step: Once your domain is registered, we recommend setting up hosting right away and connecting it to the domain. See the guide How to set up web hosting.
